An Atlantic City Police Officer was stabbed last week and a suspect was killed by that same officer.

Police radio audio has now been released.

According to Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon Tyner, on June 22nd, Timothy Deal, 32, of Atlantic City approached the scene of a hit-and-run accident, of which he was not involved. An investigation concluded Deal stabbed an officer in the abdomen and that officer then shot Deal.

Deal died at the hospital while the unnamed officer was treated and released.

A full investigation into the incident is being conducted, according to Tyner:

As per New Jersey Attorney General Guidelines, the Division of Criminal Justice was notified and the Atlantic County Major Crimes Unit is conducting the investigation without the participation of the Atlantic City Police Department.
