Questlove Calls the Racial Discrimination Lawsuit Against Him ‘Ridiculous’

Questlove is being sued for racial discrimination, according to TMZ.

Apparently, Kurt Decker and Michael Cimino, two white former camera operators for The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon (where The Roots are the house band), have alleged that they received an unsolicited racist text message from an NBC stagehand during a taping of the show.

The text was reportedly sent to NBC executives and also to The Roots’ Mark Kelley, and the two men claim that once Questlove caught wind of it, he "demanded" that they be fired from the show, and NBC obliged the request.

Yes, two white men are upset they got fired for being involved in a racist group text, and are now actually suing for racial discrimination.

NBC is standing by the decision.

“NBC is committed to providing a work environment in which all individuals are treated with respect and dignity. We have strong policies in place that protect against discrimination in any form. The decision about these plaintiffs was the company’s alone," NBC said in a statement to Pitchfork.

As for Questlove, he's said the allegations are "ridiculous" and "disrespectful" to people who endure actual racism.

“Questlove denies the ridiculous allegations made in this lawsuit,” his representative wrote on his behalf in a statement to Pitchfork. “Racism is REAL and exists throughout the world and for these gentlemen to claim victim is not only disrespectful to Questlove and his bandmates, but to all that truly endure racism on a daily basis. As NBC already stated, the decisions made regarding these employees were made by NBC, alone.”
