The Galloway Township K-8 school district has experienced a large cyber security breach resulting in the theft of about $300,000, reports say.

WPG's Harry Hurley posted Wednesday afternoon that Galloway Township Public Schools has suffered a significant computer data breach. Hurley quotes sources who say staff members identities have been compromised and approximately $300,000 has been stolen.

The Press of Atlantic City reported Wednesday night that Galloway Township schools Superintendent Annette C. Giaquinto has confirmed that the district is investigating a "cybersecurity incident."

Both sources report they were told this cyber scam appears to be confined to staff members' login information and that students and parents were not involved.

More details are expected Thursday in this breaking story.
