First spotted off the coast of Delaware, a Russian spy ship has been moving north to New Jersey, and then it was spotted just off the coast of Connecticut Wednesday morning.

This Russian spy ship, the Viktor Leonovk, was located 70 miles out to sea, which is technically in international waters.

According to FOX News, the Viktor Leonov is armed with surface-to-air missiles but it's mission is primarily to intercept communications in the United States.

Lt. Col. Valerie Henderson, a Defense Department spokeswoman, tells FOX News,

"We are aware of the vessel's presence. It has not entered U.S. territorial waters. We respect freedom of navigation exercised by all nations beyond the territorial sea of a coastal State consistent with international law."
