Sanitation Worker Killed in Middle Township Crash Tuesday Morning
A sanitation worker who was riding on the back of a trash truck was killed in a crash in Middle Township Tuesday morning.
Middle Township Police say they responded to High Beach Road in Dias Creek around 8:30 Tuesday morning. A preliminary investigation says a Gold Medal Environmental trash truck being driven by 35-year-old Marcus Stotts of Villas was traveling eastbound when the truck ran off the roadway and swiped a utility pole. An employee of the company, identified as 44-year-old Christopher Rice of Pleasantville, was riding on the side step at the back of the truck. Officers say Rice struck the utility pole; he was transported to Cape Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead
Police say no charges have been filed but their investigation continues.
