The Senate majority office says a final vote on the nomination of Faustino Fernandez-Vina to the Supreme Court is scheduled for Monday afternoon.

The Senate Judiciary Committee cleared the nominee last month. The full Senate is expected to do the same.

The 61-yeart-old is a Republican nominated by Gov. Chris Christie. He is to succeed another Republican, whom Christie did not renominate for tenure.

If confirmed, Fernandez-Vina would be the only Hispanic on the Supreme Court, but not the first.

Two other Christie nominees have stalled, and two others were rejected by Democrats who control the Senate.
