Caesars Entertainment, the parent company of Showboat Casino Hotel, has announced the Mardi Gras-themed gaming hall will close before Labor Day weekend.

The shuttering of Showboat will be the second casino in Atlantic City to close this year following the loss of The Atlantic Club Casino at the beginning of 2014.

Showboat's last day will be Sunday, August 31st. The move will put more than 2,000 people out of work.

The Showboat is home to one of the largest House of Blues franchises – a venue that has been popular in recent years for bringing in numerous musical acts and bands. There's no word yet if the House of Blues will find a new home in Atlantic City.
