The start of the new year has brought new laws and bans to the Garden State, including a smoking ban on one of the biggest boardwalks in New Jersey.

NJ.com reports that it's now illegal to smoke on the boardwalk in North Wildwood and Wildwood and there are potential fines to back up the smoking ban. Smoking on the world-famous Wildwood Boardwalk can cost you up to $1,000 or 90 days in jail. The fine in North Wildwood is $250.

According to the report, the ban also extends to the beach within 10 feet of the boardwalk. Other Jersey Shore towns where smoking is a 'no go' on the beach include Ocean City, Cape May Point, Beach Haven, Harvey Cedars, and Ship Bottom.
