South Jersey Food and Restaurant Expert Ed Hitzel Dies

A well-known South Jersey food critic and restaurant expert died yesterday.

According to The Press of Atlantic City, Ed Hitzel died Monday night while dining with friends at a restaurant in Hammonton.

Hitzel's career spanned several decades, ranging from being the former editor at The Press to hosting his own radio show on WOND and running his own publication, Ed Hitzel’s Restaurant Magazine.

A brief tribute was posted on WOND's Facebook page shortly after the news broke Monday night, which read,

Tonight we mourn the loss of our colleague and friend Ed Hitzel. Ed's "Table For One" radio show was a staple of WOND's weekend programming for many years. He was a terrific broadcaster, journalist and friend with an incredible passion for cuisine and the restaurant business. We will miss him. Please join us in remembering Ed and his family in your thoughts and prayers.
