Suspicious device closes Cape May Bridge
The Lobster House Bridge on Route 109 was temporarily closed on Friday night after a suspicious device was found in the parking lot of nearby gas station.
The Cape May Star and Wave reports the device was discovered around 4 p.m in the parking lot of the Riggins gas station on Texas Road. The Atlantic City Bomb Squad was called and the bridge. which carries drivers off the end of the Garden State Parkway into Cape May was closed as a precaution.
Several businesses were also evacuated including a Wawa. CBS Philly reports incoming traffic was diverted to the West Cape May Bridge during the closure.
According to the Press of Atantic City, the device that looked like a pipe bomb was located under a vehicle and determined not to be explosive. The all-clear was given around 7 p.m.
