GLASSBORO — A teen from Trinidad visiting her grandmother in New Jersey who went missing for weeks has been found — on the other side of the country.

Glassboro police said that Sikose Joseph, 14,  was found uninjured in San Fernando, California, and is headed home.

Police said the incident is another example of how sharing pictures via social media plays an important role in locating missing people and identifying suspects.

"Miss Joseph was located in large part to her picture being circulated through social media, where a woman in California saw her photograph and contacted authorities," Glassboro police said in a Facebook post.

Police said she left her passport behind and took off with a "significant sum of cash" in a likely effort to avoid returning to her home country.

Police had been looking for Jones since Oct. 2.
