Playing sports in high school has always been popular with students all over the great Garden State.

There are definitely benefits of playing high school sports which aside from staying focused and fit, students often experience improved academics, teamwork and leadership skills, as well as time management, according to Public School Review.

The Niche rankings have been released naming the top 100 high schools that are the best for sports. The list was determined based upon reviews from students and parents, the number of students who participate in sports, and the number of sports that are offered by each individual school.

The highest rated school on the list from South Jersey was Atlantic City, which came in at #26 with an overall NICHE grade of B-. Other South Jersey schools in the top 100 include Mainland Regional (# 58), Oakcrest (#65), Egg Harbor Township (#68) and Ocean City coming in at # 84.

In case you were wondering, the top 3 schools were Pascack High School in Hillsdale, Southern Regional in Manahawkin and River Del Regional on Oradell.
