Two juveniles from Atlantic City were arrested late Monday night in a stolen car after a short police chase, then a third juvenile was arrested for assaulting a police officer.

Officers with the Atlantic City Police Department reported hearing gunshots in the area of the 300 block of N. South Carolina Avenue near Carver Hall just after 11:30 Monday night. The city’s Shot Spotter Activation System was also triggered and reported the same. As officers responded to the area, a vehicle, which was recognized by an officer as having been reported stolen, was seen leaving the area at a high rate of speed. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, which it didn't until it hit a gate in the 800 block of Virginia Avenue. A high risk motor vehicle stopped was performed and two juveniles were located inside the stolen vehicle and placed into custody.

The two juveniles that were in the car were 16 and 17 years old and they were both charged with receiving stolen property, weapons offenses, and eluding. A third juvenile, a 17-year-old man from Atlantic City, was also arrested on scene for obstructing the administration of law, aggravated assault on a police officer and resisting arrest. This third juvenile attempted to interfere with the high risk stop and assaulted an police officer in the process.

The stolen vehicle was towed to Atlantic City Police Department. No victim was located in regards to the shots that were fired.
