TOMS RIVER — Police have arrested a student for allegedly making a threat against an Ocean County high school in the bathroom.

Police Chief Michael Little said the 15-year-old, a sophomore at Toms River High School North, was charged with causing false public alarm after the message "do not come to school 12/9 boom boom" was scrawled on the wall of a school bathroom.

The student is also subject to discipline from the school, which could range from a suspension to possible expulsion.

Little said the student had no means of carrying through with the threat.

"We initially treat any incident such as this as legitimate until we can prove it otherwise. It is regrettable that a misguided decision by a child caused wide spread alarm to the community and wasted taxpayer resources."

The Ocean County Sheriff's Department K9 unit and extra police were on campus on Dec. 9.

A 14-year-old girl from South Toms River and another 12 year-old-girl from Toms River were arrested and charged for making social media threats in September. Teens were also  arrested in several other online clown threats in Mays Landing and Washington Township. Charges are pending in Deptford.
