State troopers arrested a man after he fled on foot and subsequently overdosed following a motor vehicle stop in the Brottmanville area last Friday; two other men from the same vehicle that was stopped on Parvins Mill Road were also arrested.

According to a press release, two troopers stopped a vehicle for failing to stop at a stop sign and failing to maintain a lane. While speaking with the occupants, troopers smelled the odor of marijuana. During questioning, the front seat passenger, 21-year-old Kevin Hill of Pittsgrove, fled on foot, but was apprehended. After being placed in the rear of the troop car, Hill began to vomit and lose consciousness. He was rushed to Inspira Regional Medical Center in Vineland where he was treated for a possible heroin overdose.

The driver, 20-year-old Jacob Kruse of Pittsgrove, was placed under arrest for Hindering Apprehension of Another. The back seat passenger, 22-year-old Robert Wildblood of Pittsgrove, was placed under arrest for Possession of Marijuana (under 50/g).

Both Kruse and Wildblood were released pending court. After being released from the hospital, Hill was charged with Resisting Arrest, Possession of Heroin, Possession of Heroin with Intent to Distribute, Destruction of Evidence, and Hindering His Own Apprehension. Hill was lodged in Salem County Jail in default of $60,000 for the listed charges and other active warrants.
