Turnpike Reopens In South Jersey Following Truck Fire

The New Jersey Turnpike in south Jersey has reopened following a morning truck fire.

The road was closed at #4 (Route 73) in Mt. Laurel on the northbound side just north of the exit.

Live video of the scene shows one lane getting  by the truck still laying on its side.

Earlier the trailer was lying across three lanes and the truck's cab on the opposite side of the highway.

WCAU TV reports the trailer is melted from the fire which started around 8:20 a.m.

The driver of the rig escaped without injury according to the station.

Southbound traffic is getting by in all areas but is slow due to rubbernecking at the clearnup activity. Traffic is backed up to at least #5 (Mt. Holly) as emergency vehicles are parked in the left lane.
