Two Crashes Close 42 Freeway in South Jersey
GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP — The Tuesday morning commute got off to a bad start in South Jersey with the closure of the 42 Freeway.
Two separate crashes closed down the highway northbound between College Drive and Blackwood-Clementon Road, creating a multi-mile backup onto the Atlantic City Expressway.
Two people were injured, one seriously, in the first crash, which happened around 1:40 a.m. at exit 8 and involved three vehicles.
A truck also overturned on the off-ramp for College Drive, the alternate route to get around the closure.
The 42 Freeway remained closed as of 6:30 a.m., as delays developed on Route 168, which drivers used as an alternative.
