Three people from Atlantic City have been arrested following a shooting that wounded two men Sunday night in the city.

Atlantic City Police say two of their officers were on patrol in the area of Kentucky and Baltic Avenues around 10:45 Sunday night when they heard several gunshots. As they began to search the area, they saw a vehicle driving at a high rate of speed on Baltic Avenue and turn on to New York Avenue, according to a press release.

The officers caught-up to the vehicle and noticed a bag was covering the license plate. While that traffic stop was unfolding, other officers were dispatched to South Carolina and Baltic Avenues for a report of two men who had been shot.

Back at the traffic stop, officers located a loaded handgun in the vehicle. The occupants, Devin McClary, Ahmad Shannon, and Taja Hicks-Anderson, all of Atlantic City, were arrested. Shannon was found to be in possession of a loaded handgun that he attempted to conceal in his pants, according to police.

At the scene of the shooting, responding officers found two 17-year-old males each suffering from a gunshot wound. They were both taken to ARMC-City for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

An investigation by ACPD detectives revealed that Shannon and Hicks-Anderson shot the victims. The handgun located in the vehicle was reported stolen from Raleigh, NC.

  • McClary was arrested on two counts of aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, eluding, obstruction of justice, and conspiracy.

  • Hicks-Anderson was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, hindering apprehension, receiving stolen property, and conspiracy.

All three were remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
