Medford Township Police say they are investigating a "suspicious" incident in which an 11-year-old girl was approached by an unknown man as she was walking home Saturday evening.

Police say the girl was walking in the area of Big Chief Trail in Medford around 9:30 p.m. when she was approached by a white male in his mid-40s with slicked-back short hair.

The man is further described as being about 5 feet, 10 inches tall and was wearing dirty blue jeans "which appeared to be old," as well as a pair of "discolored brown work boots" and a grey, long-sleeved thermal shirt, police said.

According to authorities, the girl also said the unknown male "had a raspy voice, hairy knuckles, thin to medium build, gray and black facial hair, a beard that met with his sideburns and had black hair with a grey stripe in the front portion of his hair."

Medford Police are continuing to investigate the incident and are asking anyone that may have seen the individual or who has any information to call the Medford Township Police Citizen Tip line at 609-714-0302.
