Have you tried the new expanded Jitney service to Ventnor and Margate this summer? Well, if not, you missed it. The Jitney trial will end Wednesday.

Citing as lack of ridership, the Atlantic City Jitney Association has decided to pull the plug on the service to other Downbeach towns outside Atlantic City according to Ventnor City.

When the trial began in early June, the plan was to give commuters and tourists an alternate way to travel to Atlantic City inexpensively and without the parking hassles. Jitney stops were set along Atlantic Avenue in Ventnor and Margate, with service Thursday through Sunday. But, apparently the idea never caught on.

The Jitney Association set a July 13 date to evaluate the success of the trial service. Monday, the Association posted on Facebook that they would not extend the trial due to a poor response.

Many reacted to the Facebook announcement by expressing surprise that the service existed, with some saying they would have used the Jitney had they known and others claiming they had never seen a Jitney in Ventnor or Margate during the trial run.
