Following a two-month-long investigation, the Atlantic City Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit has issued an arrest warrant for a city resident who, they say, shot another man back in August.

On the night of August 18th, Atlantic City Police say 30-year-old Shafeeq Chappell fired several rounds from a handgun, ultimately hitting 35-year-old Robert Creek, also of Atlantic City. The shooting occurred in the area of the 1700 block of Hummock Avenue. When officers arrived, they found Creek with a gunshot wound to his leg. Creek was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center where he was treated for a non-life threatening gunshot wound.

Warrants have now been issued for Shafeeq Chappell who is charged with aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

Anyone with information on Chappell's whereabouts is asked to contact the Atlantic City Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit at (609) 347-5766 or you can provide anonymous information by texting 847411 and start your text with ACPD.
