A New Jersey-oriented family website has released their list of the best towns for families in the Garden State and a couple locations in South Jersey are getting recognized -- and some are not.

The folks at NJfamily.com take things like education, affordability, and crime into account when they put together their annual list of the best cities in the state to raise a family.

Coming in at the top spot is Clinton in Hunterdon County, where the average house costs about $365,000 and the website describes it as, "straight out of a Norman Rockwell painting."

As a subset of their list, NJfamily.com released their top pick for each county. Locally, Linwood was named the top city to raise a family in Atlantic County (overall #42 out of over 500 municipalities in the state) and Upper Township got the nod in Cape May County (#127 statewide).

Regionally, Haddonfield, Hopewell Township, Woolwich Township, Moorestown, and Point Pleasant Boro scored tops for their respective counties.

Now here's what I don't understand: NJfamily.com ranked 511 towns and townships and many places in South Jersey are listed at the bottom, or as some of the worst places to raise a family. Absecon ranks 485, North Wildwood ranks 505, Wildwood 506, and Wildwood crest is at #509. Meanwhile Camden is at 460.

So Camden is a better place to raise a family compared to North Wildwood? We have nothing against Camden, but c'mon.

You can read more about NJfamily.com's rankings and even view their entire list of where over 500 locations ranked on their website.
