What “Lip Sync Battle” Looked Like 30 Years Ago [VIDEO]

One of the most popular shows on cable at the moment is Spike's "Lip Sync Battle" -- a show where two celebrities go head-to-head lip sync'ing songs. Did you know the premise for this show is actually several decades old?

Way back in the 80s, a show called "Puttin' On The Hits" ran for several years, hosted by Allen Fawcett. "Puttin' On The Hits" was just like "Lip Sync Battle" -- two people, often in costumes, acted-out and lip sync'd big songs. The only real difference is these people were not famous and they fake-sang for cash prizes (and a videotape of their performance!).

As with most videos from the 80s, looking back at things that happened 30 years ago is cringe-worthy and this clip is no exception...
