A beloved Wildwood High School graduate from the Class of 2001 is feeling pretty fortunate after surviving the Orlando nightclub shooting which took many lives and injured dozens this past weekend.

According to a report by Shore News Today, Jason Gonzalez, was in Pulse, the Orlando nightclub where the shooting took place. According to Gonzalez's mother, Ivette, who currently resides in Wildwood, claims her son was able to escape the nightclub unharmed.

Jason Gonzalez moved from the area to Orlando eight years ago, and currently manages a restaurant inside Disney World.

The Press of Atlantic City reports that Wildwood Mayor Ernie Troiano was shocked when he realized a South Jersey native was present at the time of the attack. The mayor reported that Gonzalez was doing okay given the circumstances.

We're thankful Jason was able to live through this traumatic national event, but our hearts are still with the victims and families who weren't as lucky.
