Lower Township Police say a 4-year-old girl struck by a car Saturday has been released from the hospital.

Police say the young girl was struck on Lennox Avenue, near Fishing Creek Road, in the Fishing Creek section of the township:

The police investigation revealed the driver of the vehicle; a 24-year-old male from Villas, NJ, was traveling Westbound on Lennox Avenue in the area of Fishing Creek Road. He stated that the pedestrian ran out in front of him and he was unable to avoid striking her. There is no indication that the driver was speeding or using his cell phone at the time of the incident. The female was found several yards from the point of the collision.

Police say the girl was treated at the scene, then flown to Cooper Medical Center in Camden for further treatment. Police say she was released from the hospital Sunday.

The accident remains under investigation.
