Firefighters from around South Jersey fought a blaze on the closed Beesleys Point Bridge Tuesday night.

Flames from the old toll booth on the bridge could be seen shooting up 30 feet in the air, according to Marmora Volunteer Fire Chief Jay Newman in a report from The Press of Atlantic City.

The bridge connects Somers Point, in Atlantic County, with Upper Township in Cape May County closed to traffic in 2004.

Crew in fire boats from Somers Point, Scullville, Tuckahoe and Avalon battled the blaze for over an hour before getting it under control, hampered by the lack of access on the bridge, due to the removal of its surface decks.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. There were no injuries, according to KYW-TV in Philadelphia.
