Atlantic City, NJ, Boss Rolling Dice To Avoid Jail & Stay As Mayor
Atlantic City, New Jersey Mayor Marty Small had a sure deal offered to him.
Marty Small had a guarantee that he could avoid jail time, however, he would also forfeit his position as Mayor of Atlantic City.
No Deal
In a casino gaming town, Marty Small said, no deal and he has decided to roll the dice to try and keep both his freedom and his mayoral job.
The Reported Marty Small Deal
Numerous reports have confirmed that Marty Small was offered no jail time if he would be willing to plead guilty to one count of 3rd Degree Aggravated Assault.
In New Jersey, a crime of the 3rd Degree automatically disqualifies that individual from holding public employment, or, elective office.
This Is Marty Small’s 3rd Criminal Trial
Marty Small has faced the state of New Jersey two previous times and won both times.
Marty Small was found not guilty by two previous Atlantic County jury’s when he face voter fraud criminal charges.
Third Time May Not Be The Charm For Marty Small
Two Separate Atlantic County Grand Jury’s have indicted Small on the following criminal charges:
- second-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
- third-degree Terroristic Threats.
- third-degree Aggravated Assault.
- witness tampering.
All of these criminal charges involve accusations that Marty and La’Quetta Small physically and emotionally abused their teenage daughter between December, 2023 and January, 2024.
The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Says That:
During one incident, on January 13, 2024, Marty Small, Sr. is alleged to have hit his daughter multiple times in the head with a broom causing her to lose consciousness, said the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office.
Compared To Marty Small … La’Quetta Small Was Offered A Much Less Attractive Plea Deal
La’Quetta Small is the Superintendent of the Atlantic City Public Schools. She should have immediately been suspended upon her indictment for 2nd Degree Child Endangerment.
Disgracefully, La’Quetta Small has been permitted to serve and have direct pupil and staff contact.
La’Quetta Small was reportedly offered a plea deal that would include 5 years of jail time.
La’Quetta Small rejected the plea deal. She would have forfeited her teaching, principal and superintendent certificates forever … and, she would have forfeited her freedom for a significant time period. An easy call to reject this plea deal.
Constance Days-Chapman — Principal of Atlantic City High School
There has not been a single report of any plea deal offered to Days-Chapman.
Days-Chapman may be in the most jeopardy of all three criminal defendants.
An Atlantic County Grand Jury indicted Days-Chapman on August 17, 2024 on a variety of criminal counts as follows:
- second-degree Official
Misconduct. - one count of second-degree Pattern of Official
Misconduct. - one count of second-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child
- one count of third-degree Hindering
Apprehension of Another.
Days-Chapman’s Sister Has Recently Been Promoted
In a suspicious move, because of the timing … Days-Chapman’s sister has been promoted to Vice Principal at a substantial six-figure salary.
The optics are just terrible.
The Two Small’s & The Chapman’s Appear To Be United
Marty Small has publicly declared that this bond cannot be broken between these three criminal defendants.
So far, he’s right.
In fact, just last week, Small administered the oath of office to The Reverend Collins Days … the father of Constance Days-Chapman.
Reverend Days was appointed to fill a vacancy in the Atlantic County Board of Commissioners … because of the recent death of former Commissioner Ernest Coursey.
