Blown Transformer Knocks Out Power to Wildwood Boardwalk, Rides

A blown transformer Tuesday night on the Wildwood boardwalk left some riders stranded and the boardwalk completely in the dark for about an hour.

WPVI-TV reports that the Wildwood Fire Department said parts of town, including the boardwalk's amusement piers, Morey's Piers, temporarily lost power. Seaport Pier was also affected according to KYW-TV.

Atlantic City Electric confirmed the outage affected parts of Wildwood and North Wildwood.

Reports say ride operators manually moved a roller coaster to get people off. No injuries were reported.
