Saige Matthews made a very unexpected arrival into the world.

Her mom, Stephanie, started experiencing contractions Friday night. By the time her husband Brett got her to their car, it was clear their race to the hospital was going to need to be a speedy one.

Brett Matthews told 6abc.com, "[Stephanie] was telling me we gotta get there, we gotta get there".

"I started to realize that this was happening fast and my contractions were intensifying. I said, 'Brett I have to push.' And he was like 'NO'", said Stephanie.

When the expectant parents arrived Shore Medical Center in Somers Point, Brett immediately grabbed a security guard to call a doctor to come help. But by the time he got back to their Subaru to tend to Stephanie, Baby Saige's head had made an appearance, and Brett literally caught the baby in the front seat.

Saige came into the world a healthy 8 lbs., 5 oz., and joins a big brother and big sister at home in Cape May.
