Eagles injury report: A.J. Brown ruled out vs. Falcons
The Philadelphia Eagles will be missing a major piece of their offense when they take on the Atlanta Falcons on Monday Night at Lincoln Financial Field.
The Eagles ruled out wide receiver A.J. Brown on Sunday’s injury report. Rookie Wide receiver Johnny Wilson also did not practice on Saturday with a hamstring injury and was listed as questionable for Monday's game.
That leaves the door for someone to step up against the Falcons, who are also 0-1 after a disappointing loss to the Bears in Week 1.
Brown’s absence was to be expected after head coach Nick Sirianni said Saturday the standout pass catcher's hamstring got a little tight in practice on Friday and he missed practice on Saturday.
That puts wide receiver Jahan Dotson in line to take the No. 2 role against Atlanta, after coming over late in training camp in a trade from Washington. He did not have a catch in the opener against Green Bay.
"Yeah, he's worked his butt off," Siriani said on Saturday. "He's obviously a very talented player. We'll see how that goes. But I know that the guys are ready when they need to be when they're called upon."
Who are the guys that might have a bigger role with Brown out?
"Everybody from Jahan to Johnny to [WR Britain] Covey will be ready to go if need be," Sirianni stated.
Another possibility, with Wilson questionable, the Eagles could elevate veteran wide receiver Paris Campbell from the practice squad with Brown unavailable.
Regardless, replacing Brown will not be easy after he hauled in five passes for 119 yards and a touchdown However the best options will be DeVonta Smith, Dallas Goedert, and Dotson. The team could lean on running backs Saquan Barkley, Kenny Gainwel, and Will Shipley more in both the running and in passing game.
