The Secret Service is warning of a new scam this holiday season involving the circulation of fake $100 bills.

Several business in and around Philadelphia have reported being scammed by the phony notes, reports 6abc.com.

An estimated $50,000 in counterfeit money gets passed around weekly in the Tri-state area.

The Secret Service recommends that if you have any concerns over any currency in your possession, it's best to contact your bank or local Secret Service office.
