Galloway Man Nabbed in Bi-County Heroin, Coke Probe

A Galloway man suspected of peddling drugs in Atlantic and Ocean Counties awaits court proceedings, following his arrest by authorities from both counties.

Andy Nelson, 51, is charged with one count each of possession of heroin and cocaine, and one each of possession with intent to distribute, according to Ocean County Prosecutor Joseph D. Coronato's office. More charges are pending, authorities said.

The search of his South Tulip Avenue dwelling, and October 15 arrest, were the end result of a probe by the Ocean County Special Operations Group, Southern Enforcement Unit, and the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Guns, Gangs and Narcotics Task Force (GGNTF), and police officers of Galloway and Stafford Townships.

Detectives who searched his house found about 150 bags of heroin, at least a half-ounce of cocaine, about 100 prescription pills, packaging materials and other items, and about $3,800 cash.

With support by the Atlantic County Regional SWAT Team, they also searched and seized Nelson's 2011 Chevrolet Suburban, suspected of being the means by which the trafficking took place.

Nelson was released until a subsequent court date.

Charges are accusations. Defendants are presumed innocent unless, and until, found guilty in a court of law.
