George Jones Arrested After Crashing Into People on AC Boardwalk

A man on a dirt bike is in trouble after crashing the bike into and injuring people on the Atlantic City Boardwalk.

George Jones - not the legendary country singer (who passed away in 2013), but a 22-year-old Atlantic City man - was charged after the incident on the boardwalk Sunday night.

Police say Jones crashed into several people walking in the 700 block of the boardwalk at 11:25pm:

George Jones was traveling eastbound on a Suzuki dirt bike at a high rate of speed. He swerved to avoid a child running across the boardwalk when he lost control and collided into the back of three women. Jones attempted to flee the area, but was held by numerous bystanders until the arrival of officers who arrested him.

Two women were transported to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division, with serious injuries. One woman was treated on scene and released.

Jones was released on summons after being charged with three counts of assault by auto, disorderly conduct, and multiple traffic summons.
