After 41 years of being open seven days a week year-round, the owners of the Greek restaurant decided to make a change as they went into 2026 and posted about it on Facebook.

After 41 years of proudly serving our community seven days a week, the time has come for us to close on Sundays, with the exception of Mother’s Day and Father’s Day. We truly appreciate your understanding and look forward to seeing you Monday through
Saturday.

The Olympia Diner will now be open from 11 am to 9 pm, Monday through Saturday.

It certainly seems within reason after 4 decades of running the family restaurant to take one day a week off to rest and enjoy.

Even the people who love the restaurant understand that. It was just how the announcement started that shocked the community.

At first, it sounded like the Olympia Diner family might be packing it in entirely and retiring, and that brought some precious responses from those who love the Olympia.
