Several Cape May County fire and rescue crews responded to a call about a vehicle driving off the road and down an embankment Wednesday morning in Marmora.

Upper Township First responders braved cold, icy conditions to come to the rescue of a driver trapped in a car on Tuckahoe Road near Butter Road.

A Township-Wide Fire & Rescue Response to Accident

The Marmora Volunteer Fire Company posted on Facebook that they  responded to a crash at about 8 am Wednesday.

They were assisted by the Seaville Fire and Rescue, Tuckahoe Volunteer Fire Company and Upper Township Division of EMS. AtlantiCare paramedics and the NJ State Police were also on the scene.

Firefighters arrived on scene to find a single vehicle off of the road and down an embankment with the sole occupant trapped inside. Additionally, a pole and wires were down hindering rescue efforts.

Firefighters say it took about 15 minutes to remove the driver from the vehicle. The injured driver was then taken to a local hospital by Upper Township Division of EMS.

There is no word on the condition of the injured driver.
