Eagles and Rams Get Tough Injury News Ahead of Huge Week 4 Showdown
The Philadelphia Eagles scored their fewest points in a loss (7) since November 28th in 2021. But unlike that six point loss to the Giants five years ago, the Eagles were dominated on both sides of the ball in their loss to the Bears on Monday Night Football.
Now Philadelphia has to rebound from their first 20-point loss since December 2023 when they host the Los Angeles Rams for this Sunday's game. But the Eagles had five players who did not practice on Thursday, a clear sign that their depth will continue to be tested in NFL Week 4.
Both the Eagles and Rams are dealing with injuries heading into this showdown of two teams that were expected to be contenders for the NFC Championship this year. We already knew that Tight End Dallas Goedert will be unavailable for a couple of weeks, but two other starters' status is in question against a Rams team that will be without one of their best players.
Both Eagles and Rams Rule Out Key Starters for Sunday's showdown
There are six players listed as out for this Sunday's game is a list that includes three starters who are new additions to the Injury Report this week.
Number One Wide Receiver DeVonta Smith has not practiced all week as he is dealing with a Hamstring Injury. Smith originally sustained the Hamstring Injury in Training Camp almost two months ago, and according to reports, he re-aggravated the issue during the Monday Night Football game in Chicago.
Without Smith, Eagles will be leaning on Dontayvion Wicks, Makai Lemon, and Darrius Cooper as the new top three Wide Receivers. Since Hollywood Brown is also unavailable this Sunday as he deals with an Ankle Injury, we could also see Britain Covey and Elijah Moore get some action at Slot Receiver.
All-Pro Linebacker Zack Baun is in the NFL's Concussion Protocol, and has been ruled out for Sunday's game in Philadelphia. Baun has been the team's best all-around defensive player so far in 2026, leading the Eagles in Tackles For Loss (4), and Passes Defended (3). Without him on the field, Jeremiah Trotter Jr. will be expected to start at Linebacker versus the Rams.
Safety Marcus Epps will be unavailable this Sunday with a Groin Injury, leaving the Eagles in a predicament at the Safety position:
*Michael Carter got a plethora of first and second team reps at Safety during Training Camp, but we also know that Philadelphia has been cross-training Cooper DeJean at Safety as well. Both Carter and DeJean can start at Nickel Cornerback too.
*The Eagles signed Veteran Defensive Back Kenny Moore this week to the 53-man roster, but most of his experience is playing Slot and Outside Cornerback, not Safety.
Rams Rule Out Two Starters on Defense for this Sunday in Philadelphia
At Friday's press conference, Rams Head Coach Sean McVay named three players will be unavailable to play on Sunday in Philadelphia. The biggest name is Defensive Lineman Aaron Donald, who is dealing with a Back Injury, and the Rams HC McVay says the team is looking to "protect" Donald so he is available to play the rest of the season.
Cornerback Jaylen Watson sustained a Dislocated Shoulder during the Rams' loss to the Denver Broncos in NFL Week 3. This means the Rams Defense will be shorthanded on both the defensive line and secondary since Watson is the team's number two cornerback.
Tight End Terrance Ferguson is dealing with an Ankle Sprain, and has been placed on Injured Reserve ahead of the game on Sunday. Tied for third on the Rams in Pass Targets, Ferguson's absence will be less impactful compared to other injuries because of the return of All-Pro Wide Receiver Puka Nacua.
Two Rams are listed as Questionable for Sunday's game in Philadelphia: Starting Tight End Kolby Parkinson (Knee and Shoulder Issues), along with Special Teams Contributor and Reserve Linebacker Grant Stuard (Groin Injury) are both expected to have their game availability updated in the next 36 hours.
