Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon Tyner says a woman operating an unlicensed daycare center in her home is responsible for near fatal injuries to a one-year-old boy who was in her care.

Tyner says Lisa Henderson, 55, is charged with Aggravated Assault and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

Back on November 30, 2017, Atlantic City Police and the Atlantic County Prosecutor's office investigated injuries to a young boy in her care. The child was taken to the AtlantiCare Medical Center in Atlantic City, then transferred to Cooper University Hospital.

The child suffered an injury and brain bleed. According to Tyner:

Henderson is self-employed, operating an unlicensed daycare facility out of her residence. On November 30, 2017, Henderson was the lone adult watching several young children. She claimed that the child fell from a bed, which measured approximately 23 inches high, and the fall caused him to have a seizure and lose consciousness.

Medical reports indicate that the child had a fracture of his right coronal suture, a large subdural hematoma, a cervical spine injury and retinal hemorrhages. This was classified as a near fatal injury. Medical reports also indicate that a short household fall does not explain these injuries.

The child has since been released from the hospital. Henderson is being held in the Atlantic County Jail.
