Linwood Police say a Mainland High School student was arrested after he was found to be in possession of an imitation firearm.

Police say they were called to the school Thursday afternoon, "when a staff member reported to a Class III Linwood Police Officer, who is assigned to Mainland Regional High School, that there was allegedly a student possessing a firearm in their backpack in a classroom."

According to Linwood Police, the officer, along with administrators, went to the classroom where the administrator searched the backpack and recovered the imitation handgun from the backpack.
