Man Hit and Killed in Late Night Absecon Crash

The Absecon Police Department was called to a pedestrian motor vehicle crash late Monday on Rt. 30 at the intersection with Mill Rd.

An investigation revealed that twenty-four year old Tanvir Ahmed of Atlantic City was walking across Rt. 30 against the traffic signal shortly before midnight.

A 2004 Chevrolet Malibu operated by sixty-five year old Nicholas Moiras of Egg Harbor City was traveling westbound on Rt. 30 and struck Mr. Ahmed. He was pronounced dead on scene by the county medical examiner’s office.

The eastbound and westbound left lanes of Rt. 30 were closed for approximately two and a half hours for the investigation.

The incident is being investigated by Ptl. Jeffrey Mazer and Ptl. Christian F. Cavileer of the Traffic Safety Unit with possible charges pending. Anyone with additional information  should contact the Absecon Police Department at 609-641-0667.
