Man Sleeping in Abandoned Apartment Arrested in A.C. With Loaded Gun
Atlantic City Police say a man from Camden County is facing several charges after he was arrested and a gun was recovered when he was found sleeping in an abandoned apartment.
Authorities say around noon Sunday, officers responded to the Carolina Village Apartments in the 100 north block of North Carolina Avenue for a report of a man sleeping in an apartment where the tenants had recently been evicted.
The officers woke 27-year-old Phabian Jackson of Berlin. He was advised to leave the apartment and as he was doing so and tending to his dog, once officer found a loaded handgun on the couch where Jackson had been sleeping. Jackson was taken into custody. He was also found in possession of a cigarette that was wet from being dipped in PCP. Jackson was also found to have an active warrant for his arrest.
Jackson has been charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, certain person not to possess a weapon, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance. He was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
