A Moorestown police officer died Saturday night after being thrown from his motorcycle.

Craig Berner, 52, lost control of his Honda motorcycle when he was stuck by a truck driven by William McGovern, 60,  an investigator for the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office on Route 614 around 10:00 p.m. according to WPVI TV.

The Patch of Moorestown reports Berner is a 26-year-veteran of the police force.

In a post on the Cinnaminson Township Facebook page, Committeeman and fellow Moorestown officer Don Brauckmann posted, "“Our thoughts, sympathy, and prayers go out to Officer Berner’s family and his extended Moorestown Police/law enforcement family during this trying time. Godspeed."

The Camden County Prosecutor's Office and New Jersey State Police are investigating the accident.
