One of the victims of Monday night's New Jersey Turnpike three-car accident was a member of a New Jersey rock band.

New Jersey State Police said in a statement that Christopher Calderone, 20, of Brick and Rob Critelli, 21, of Summit were both passengers in a VW Passat driven by Paul Fiorentino, 21, of Point Pleasant on the southbound Turnpike just south of exit #2 in Woolwich Township. They were behind a car driven by a man from Maine in the left lane. They stopped for construction and were rear-ended by a third car driven by Nishank Shaw, 24, of Woodbridge that came upon the stopped vehicles

The impact sent the Passat into a concrete barrier sparking a fire, trapping Calderone and Critelli in the car. They were pronounced dead at the scene. No charges have been filed.

The accident closed the southbound lanes for almost five hours during the investigation and cleanup.

Calderone and Fiorentino are members of the Brick-based band Fated Endeavor that had formed earlier this year. The band is a semi-finalist in the "Rock to the Top" local band competition.

My deepest condolences to the families, band members and fans of Rob and Chris. Two young rockers taken from us way too early. RIP.
