EDISON — A NJ Transit bus on the shoulder of the road is not an unusual sight. But a bus facing the wrong way is a different story.

Commuter Al Young posted a picture on Facebook of a bus parked on the shoulder of a ramp of Exit 127 on the Garden State Parkway on Thursday morning.

It's not clear how and when the bus eventually turned itself around.

NJ Transit spokesman Jim Smith, who saw the picture after it was brought to his attention Friday, said the agency is "vigorously investigating this and we encourage our customers that if they see anything they should report it directly to out customer service so that it can be processed for investigation."

The wrong-way incident comes amid major construction activity in this section of the Parkway. The road work has caused major traffic jams, which are expected to continue this weekend.
