ROXBURY — A retired New Jersey police officer was seriously injured in an accident that occurred during an annual bike ride that honors officers killed in the line of duty

Roxbury police say Joseph Franklin remained hospitalized Tuesday in critical condition.

Franklin was injured Monday while riding in the first day of the Police Unity Tour. But details on the accident and where it occurred have not been disclosed.

Hundreds of officers are taking part in the 320-mile bike ride, a four-day which ends at the National Law Enforcement Officer's Memorial and Museum in Washington. Money raised through the ride goes to the memorial's fund.
