This is very welcome news.

Atlantic County has been lagging behind.

A well-placed elected official has confirmed to me that the Atlantic County Coronavirus testing site will open this Thursday, April 9, 2020, at Hamilton Mall in Mays Landing, Hamilton Township.

This is a very good, centralized location.

New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy had previously announced last week that the Atlantic County COVID-19 testing site would open on Tuesday, April 14, 2020.

This is five days better than that.

Atlantic County will join:

- Cumberland County
- Ocean County
- Cape May County (Cape May Court House)
- Bergen County
- Monmouth County

As to why Atlantic County has lagged behind, remains a great mystery.

With the virus getting ready to hit its first wave peak, this is very welcome news for many who have been crying out for this testing site.

A special thank you to New Jersey State Senator Chris Brown who was a major driving force behind this important public service effort.

Also, thank you to Governor Murphy who made this a real priority when Atlantic County was dropping the ball.

Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small also pushed very hard for this to happen. He saw the need and value from the very beginning.

Others didn’t.
