The Washington Township Police Department launched a program this week designed to help the community identify with police life and the jobs they do day in and day out.

NJ.com reports the program was initiated in an attempt to educate the public and give them (us) an inside look at what it takes to be an officer. Included in the curriculum is focus on the daily duties, stresses, responsibilities that accompany the job as a Washington Township law enforcement officer.

The first meeting was held earlier this week and featured a demonstration of how to deal with an active shooter. The Civilian Police Academy meets two nights a week from now through July 17th.
