The Baseball Performance Center Spartans, players representing Holy Spirit High School, rallied for a couple of runs in the top of the seventh inning but ultimately came up short, falling 7-3 to Williamstown.
The Mustangs may have been undersized without Cook, and trailed for much of the game, but Williams-coached teams never give up and in the end they gave the Corral Crazies plenty to cheer about.
Former Drexel University star Tim Whitworth is in his first year coaching the Holy Spirit girls basketball program and has the Spartans in contention for berths in the state playoffs and Cape-Atlantic League tournaments.
State championship-winning baseball coach Steve Normane, who currently is the athletic director at Holy Spirit High School, will be back in the dugout this spring.
