Officials with the Cape May County Bridge Commission have given a new timetable for bringing the E-Z Pass system to the five bridges under their control.

$500,000 was allocated in February to equip the bridges with the E-Z Pass sensors and equipment, but there wasn't time to finish by summer, so the project was shelved until fall, according to The Press of Atlantic City.

The commission operates these five bridges in Cape May County:

-The Middle Thorofare Bridge connecting Cape May and Wildwood Crest

- The Grassy Sound Bridge linking North Wildwood and Stone Harbor

- The Townsends Inlet Bridge between Avalon and Sea Isle City

- The Corsons Inlet Bridge between Strathmere and Ocean City

- The Ocean City-Longport Bridge

The Cape May County Bridge Commission hopes to have E-Z Pass installed on the Ocean City-Longport Bridge by Dec. 15 and the other four bridges completed by mid-spring.
