Atlantic County Republican Chairman Is Running for National Office

We have learned and confirmed that Atlantic County Republican Party Chairman Don Purdy is running to be New Jersey's Republican National Committeeman.

We have also learned that Purdy will be running with Somerset County Republican State Committeewoman Janice Fields.

This process will be followed according to the New Jersey Republican State Committee's Constitution and By-Laws.

The Republican National Committee's Rules require that these positions are to be elected in advance of this year's Republican National Convention.

There is great geographical balance (Southern and Northern part of the state) with the Purdy and Fields ticket.

One of the current office-holders is William Palatucci, who is a very close friend with Chris Christie.

Palatucci has not yet announced whether he is running for re-election.

This position is for a 4-year term. It is a position of great significance with President Trump on the ballot this year and the race for New Jersey Governor next year.

There are 21 Counties in New Jersey … each County is represented with one male and one female.

Both Purdy and Fields are pro-President Donald Trump Republicans.

Palatucci has been in staunch opposition to President Trump, just as Christie has been.

This places Palatucci in a likely unwinnable position should he decide to run.

Our New Jersey delegation needs to head into Milwaukee united behind President Trump and focused on one thing. WINNING in November, said Purdy, who was recently chosen to be one of President Trump's Statewide Delegates. "There's just too much at stake for the future of our state and the future of our country for us to be fighting amongst each other instead of with Biden and the Democrats - that's the message Janice and I have been hearing from everyone we talk to, said Purdy.

Purdy is a small business owner of several diverse businesses and the former Mayor of Galloway Township, New Jersey.

In March, 2022, Purdy was elected as Atlantic County Republican Chairman after longtime Chairman Keith Davis decided against seeking re-election.

“Don and I both served as Mayor of our respective hometowns so we know what it's like to go out there and put your name on the ballot," said Fields. "We know what our candidates up and down the ballot need to be successful and will do everything we can to work with Chairman Whatley & Co-Chairwoman Trump to secure the resources necessary to make it happen,” said Fields.

Janice Fields has served on the New Jersey Republican State Committee since 2014 and has served on the Bernards Township Committee in 2019. In 2021 she served as Mayor.

Field’s is the former President of the Somerset County Federation of Republican Women and a past recipient of their Millicent Fenwick Award.
