Former Atlantic City, New Jersey Board of Education President John Devlin has expressed outrage about the numerous criminal charges that have been filed against:

MARTY SMALL - MAYOR OF ATLANTIC CITY

  • 2nd degree endangering the welfare of a child.
  • 3rd degree aggravated assault
  • 3rd degree terroristic threats
  • disorderly persons simple assault.

LA'QUETTA SMALL - SUPERINTENDENT, ATLANTIC CITY PUBLIC SCHOOLS

  • 2nd degree endangering the welfare of a child.
  • 3 separate counts of disorderly persons simple assault.

CONSTANCE DAYS-CHAPMAN - PRINCIPAL, ATLANTIC CITY HIGH SCHOOL

  • second-degree Official Misconduct.
  • third-degree Hindering Apprehension of
    Another.
  • fourth-degree Obstruction of Justice.
  • disorderly persons Failure to Report Child Abuse.

The criminal charges were placed on summonses for both of The Small defendants.

While Devlin was still on the Atlantic City Board of Education, he fought a valiant public battle to try and help abused and allegedly abused children within the Atlantic City Public system.

For reasons unknown at the time, The Small administration refused to take any corrective action.

In our exclusive interview, here is John Devlin in his own words:

In light of these charges to the mayor, his wife and the principal, this is a very unfortunate situation; however no one can say we didn't warn them! When I was President of the Board of Education, we discovered a child from our district was sexually molested by an employee. I did everything in my power to bring light to the situation, identify how this happened without board knowledge, attempt to identify all victims, give care to victims and to ensure this would never happen again in our district!

We initiated an independent investigation, we attempted to change policy so a cover up or an attempt to brush things under a rug would never happen again. We even opened an independent hotline for victims and witnesses in an attempt identify and to give care to all victims involved. We were met by adversity and push back not only by current board members, administration but also from the sitting state monitor! I was called a racist, removed from my position as chairman of the ACMUA, I had my family name drug thru the mud and even threatened in public. I was merely doing my duty as an elected official and I would do it again. Sadly it appears to have happened again under similar circumstances.

It is shocking that with all of the child abuse and alleged child abuse, that La’Quetta Small and the Atlantic City Board of Education failed to take any corrective action whatsoever.

Developing.
